domen.colja 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Concept: Girlfight, but she eventually wins, always. p.s.: Both shot with the main light above her head on right (silver umbrella) and the fill under her on the left (same), E-TTL, +FEC. The second image was horizontally flipped. Link to comment
williamdovidio 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Hello Domen, I really love the concept of the girl winning. I also like the look of a high contrast image with the sharpening feel. The only thing I feel that may not be working as well is the partial over blurring of the hair and glove. I think you might be trying to push the viewer into the boxer's face too much. Another thing is that, to me by blurring out the glove so much it makes it feel almost like a composted photograph. You might have been able to use a much smaller depth of field to get this same type of effect with a more natural feel. I actually don't mind the blurred effect on the woman's hair, but don't leave un blurred parts like in the bottom image to the right. I feel the transition between the blur and the norm needs to blend smoother with clean masks. William Dovidio Link to comment
younes 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Hi Domen, I totally second William's comments above. On a side note, I am always pleased to visit your portfolio because I am always sure to find something unexpected. Always get a reaction from your shots, some may not like them but no one will be indifferent :-). Link to comment
domen.colja 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Thank you, Younes and William, for stopping by. I admit that I agree with you both about the superficial photoshopping applied to the image. I was in a hurry and managed to mask the central portion of both images (the face) with just some minor lasso/feathering selections, adding the filter and saving it. Really "bad" work, might've done it differently, but I'm glad you nevertheless like the image. Thanks again, have a nice day;) And Younes, well, I reciprocate your opinions on me (or my images) and add a bunch of pluses to your side. Really great work and amazing creativity. Be sure of that.
