aepelbacher 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Just wanted to share this with everyone. It might just be my last opportunity to see the DC fireworks in person. It was fabulous ... synced up to the 1812 Overture and Stars & Stripes Forever broadcast on the local classical music station (being played live by the National Symphony Orchestra on the Capitol Steps). I was on the Virginia side of the Potomac, near Memorial Bridge (just up river from the bridge). Parking was easy. I couldn't help but think to myself that ... here I am on the bank of the Potomac River, looking across at the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, on July 4, watching fireworks, listening to the 1812 Overture and Stars and Stripes Forever, being fed fabulously delicious food by an Afghani family who happened to be sitting next to me and decided to "adopt" me. Only in America ... and only in DC! It was really very cool! Happy Fourth of July (missed it by a few minutes ....) P.S. I like this shot better of the two. Your thoughts? Link to comment

aepelbacher 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Yes, I know that there is just about NO originality in this shot. But it was fun to GET the shot, and I'm very happy with it, so all's well. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 7, 2007 Hi Lou Ann, belated greetings! nice to see you again! even not original, a nice shot in the right time! How are you doing? Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted July 10, 2007 Hi, LouAnn! I had originally planned to get some shots at my hometown fireworks display, but ended up going to bed instead! We had a 10 hour drive the next day to get home so I wimped out. Glad you stayed up for yours, though. This is a beautiful, classic shot. I love the glow on the river and the silhouettes of the people in their boats. Both add something to the shot that most fireworks shots lack. Very nice. The glow of the memorials is great, too. I think that if I'd been in DC, I would not have been able to resist these...even if I'd been getting up early to drive the next day! :) Link to comment

sachinpatke 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Simply awesome. Envy you for getting a good spot. But that shouldn't take the credit away from a good execution. I was about a mile south from here. Cheers! Link to comment
