It kind of makes me think of so many songs...

I really like the way the sun is just hitting the back of the guitar in that perfect spot.

WOW! You really did good here!

Just the sunset alone and then throw that guitar in there. Isn't it funny how we all picked music this time around. We all must be missing something in our lives. Well that and some PINK FLOYD. :)

This is an excellent picture and I think it will be a treasure!

Thanks Micki,

Just to explain..I was supposed to be walking away in the background but never got around to it and by the time I tried the water was around me and I didn't want a repeat of last week, LOL..

true fellow warrior... Always on the brink to bring the assignment in. Awesome setting and technically, nothing I'd change or whine about. Ashame you didn't get in the composition, but, after explaining, I see why you didn't. Awesome photo no matter.

Ger, this is excellent. Even without the guitar, the colors in the sky and the reflection are incredibly beautiful. You could not have a better exposure. The guitar adds quite a twist.

This is simply stunning...

The only thing that could of made it just a tad bit better, is if you could see some detail in the shore in the background.

Beautifully done!

Although I am not real familiar with your work, as I compare this to what I have seen, it doesn't seem like it really has your stamp on it. It seems as though there is something missing that should tie the guitar into the landscape and really complete the work. I know that you said that you were in a hurry.

It IS, in it's own right a very striking piece. John was right, it doesn't even need the guitar but the fact that it is there lends some mystery and mood.

It looks like someone "Forgot" their Guitar at the Beach!

Great idea and very original. I love the sunlight reflections and the shadow of the guitar. Its kind of off the wall, the guitar just standing there alone...I love that. It would be a good pic without the guitar but I think that is what I like most about it. 7/7 to me. :O)

Excellent composition and light...but I would have preferred the guiter lying down rather than standing up...it would have possibly given more depth...

Ger, great shot. I also would've liked to see the guitar lying down. I agree that the detail of the background behind the guitar seems worked. I think that can be easily fixed. The light on the guitar seems unnatural, but that's not necessarily bad. It makes the guitar stand out, and would work well if this were an ad for the guitar. (I would buy the guitar by the way). With the guitar standing out like that, it doesn't seem forgotten. Beautiful shot though, O

I like the general idea and agree that it would have been nice to have had you walking away but I know that without a crew, it's sometimes impossible to get the shots that we want. Another idea would have been to have had you walking away with your wife holding hands, as if you had been courting her and once the guitar had served it's pupose it was forgotten. Just what came to mind. I would also have preferred to see the guitar laying down, but then your brother would have killed you and we would not get to see anymore of your wonderful work! My biggest concern here is that the guitar seems too bright to me to fit in with the scene. At first I thought that you had PS'd it in. IMO seeing the details of it is not needed here. Although I could be wrong. One of the things that I really like about this is the color of the guitar with the color of the sunset and it's reflection in the sand. How the heck did you get that thing to stand up?!

How did I get it to stand..Ha...I was looking for something to reat is against and I put it down, just like that, took the weight off it from my hand and went, Oh..it stands by itself..how cool is that!!

I like the ideas you suggested, thanks for all the comments guys.

Ger, I think it's a really nice image and could easily grace the cover an album (I mean cd!, or iTunes web page or something that doesn't give my forgotten age away). I think it works with or without you. I love the way you've captured the water and the beach, agree with Darren (HAHA) about a little detail in the hills, and agree with Anthony that the front of the guitar is too well lit for the scene. Nice composition the way the beach itself continues the circular "cove" feel that the background begins. The beach kind of looks like a surreal moonscape and has a nice, musical quality to it. I keep thinking of people like Loudon Wainwright or James Taylor when I look at this image. I've been thinking of what theme I'm going to go with when it's my turn, and I may do you a favor and pick "desert."

Very cool shot Ger! I almost did one of an old beat up violin my friend's mom has... but... I couldn't think of a composition. This one is truly amazing. Looks like an album cover for sure. I love the light.

...I can't get a person to sit still long enough to shoot, and you get a guitar to stand up on the beach all by it's self!

Ger - wonderful shot! (I had a similar idea as I sold my guitar a couple years back because it too was forgotten - in the back of my closet!) You pulled this off very nicely! Beautiful light and tones!
