hi nice pic....i love taking pictures like this...and i find myself stuck in a big dilemna every time i compose these shots...

this image seems to be a very static image...it shows the endless stream of detail on the bridge and showcases the pylons completely.

is it worth cropping this picture such that we dont see the endless stream o of detail. instead we see the repetitive pattern and fill more of the image with it and use only part of the pylon in the background as a 'background'- something myseterious looming out there behind the foreground...offcrouse it will be clear to everyone that those are pylons of the bridge....but really it just enhances the mysetery.please find my edited version of the image attached here.

WOW John, this is better than the last one. You couldn't have picked a better angle for this shot. I cannot muster the words to really do this critique justice. Cheers, Rick, III

Rick and Neville,

Thanks for the comments. It's an interesting crop Neville -- next time I pass by the bridge I'll snap a few more.

This one was shot early morning Rick.

Regards, John

Personally, I think retaining the poles adds another reminder of passing through and enlivens the shot. I pass by this bridge often, always admiring, but never with a camera. Your photo inspires me to return with camera in hand. Great photo.

Ok, so I won't go away. I like this shot, this is the bridge shot I have in my mind when I think about this as a subject.

There is repetition everywhere, and nothing is found only once in the world.- Goethe.........I had seen it before, and wanted to comment on it, but really couldn?t make up my mind about what to say, so I'll try to make it simple: one of the be be be be best compositions I've seen with repeating objects. The light poles are just the exact amount of noise to break the monotony and turn this into a more humane scene.
