davidlong 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Excellent--this one really grabs you, and I'm not a big fan of bug pictures in general. The picture is notable for the colors, the overall idea, and the reflections in all the drops. It makes us ponder what the world around must look like to this little guy and how he sees the world. Based on the reflections, one thing he obviously sees is a big circular lens stuck right in his face :-)! You could call this something like "Dragonfly self-portrait", with multiple meanings. Detail, focus, and composition are very good, and depth-of-field is well-chosen. My only minor quibble are a couple of drops, a bit closer than the others, which appear slightly out-of-focus and which I would like sharper. As a side note, you might be interested in reading about how insect eyes have evolved in a regime small enough for diffraction effects to be serious issues. The Feynman Lectures on Physics has probably the most well-known basic discussion. Link to comment
davidlong 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Just noticed in the details that this is not arranged or manipulated. An even more amazing job in that case! Link to comment
martinamm 0 Posted May 31, 2007 you all for your kindly comments. @david: special thanks to you;) . it was unfortunatelly not possible to get more dof because i used and f-stop of 16, which is the smallest aperature at this lens :( Link to comment
