don_myers1 0 Posted May 24, 2007 John; I orrigionally rated this picture a 5/5, but after a closer look I would change it to 4/5. Asthetically, it is a very good picture, but the green leaf in the background takes from the picture and is a distraction. Perhaps if you moved the flower up to the right (upper right third) it would be less distracting, and by doing so, you would include more of what the flower is resting on. Also it would work to draw a person's eye into the picture by following the contour of the wood. As for orrigionallity, I know I am rating this high at a 5, but the wood the flower rests on does lend to a higher rating -- but that's my oppinion. Don Link to comment
obrallaghan 0 Posted May 24, 2007 Thank you Don for your comments I took a walk through the botanical gardens with my wife and we were both taken with the beauty of this particualr flower. It was a single passion flower resting in a terracota vase water feature and being the object of focus I placed it in the centre, however after reading you comment I can see how even a blured object can still draw the viewers eye from the intended object of focus.
