I, too, find this image very good. A wonderful study of light. I guess that since no one has mentioned it, that I'm the Lone Ranger on this, but I would have cloned or cropped out the actual girl on the swing. It would seem more mysterious that way, as if the shadow were being produced by a ghost.

Thanks Amal, Carlos, Shuki, David and Karina...David thanks for your proposal and to have taken the time...I agree that this little part of my son on the left might seem provocative or at least not the taste of many...I thought some time about it and although I fully understand and respect your point and also Karina's argument...I prefer with the little part..don't ask me why as I am not able to argue too much...probably my own bloody taste...

This one too laurent! I think it will work great in B/W. the only thing that disturbs me here is the blue something on the L. B/W will solve it for me, what do you think?

I can't see the purpose of the not exactly recognizable thing on the left! Could have been cropped or better carefully erased! Maintaining the lights and shadows which are the part of the quality of this picture!

I prefer to include the slice of your son as in my eyes it gives kinda intimacy, closeness, 3D, whatever one should call it. The inclusion gives also a sense of dynamic off-balance moment here, without him being rather stationary shadow play. For my part I also appreciate that tension point, his cap not overlapping the side-to-side border line, and that the cap is red, of course. ;-)

This is a great image- great job of seeing it, as many would overlook it. The static and immovable tire really anchors the image, as does its wonderful blue/black color, and adds contrast to the implied motion of your son and his shadow. Without the rock solid stability of the tire on chains, the sense of motion would be slight. I agree with you about keeping your son in the photo - to me it keeps the human element firmly in mind, whereas the abstract that would be created with his removal would lessen the impact of the photo. To me, it is a portrait of a small child (without the child!) and all of the boundless energy he represents - after all, a child is defined more by the mad dash and blur they create as they head off on the next adventure, and small boys are nothing if not motion. As viewers of the image, we don't need to see him to know him. The strong geometry of the image adds to the sense of motion beautifully. All of the diagonals from shadows cast by the legs of the set, the tire's chain, and the boy and the chains of the tire he swings on all lead the eye toward the subject - your son, and of course the colors as wonderful - right down to the red hat. An excellent image, and one that makes the viewer stop and think, as well as enjoy the time spent looking -
