It would be better, when you have all lines leading to a central point, that the central point is the absolute sharpest and perfectly exposed. On a closeup like this, the depth of field gets progressively shallower. If you have manual controls, a very small aperture could solve the problem. If not, get further away from the subject and focus on a point about 1/3rd of the distance to the center, and still holding the release button halfway down, recompose and press the shutter release the rest of the way. Now, from further away, you can crop to the area you wanted and all should be acceptably sharp. Your focus in this is on the back half of the plant, and well beyond the central area. The attachment may help illustrate approximately where to focus. Link to comment
