dchiaradmd 0 Posted April 10, 2007 I'm resubmitting this picture with some changes based on some of the feedback I received on the original. This was a completely spontaneous snapshot taken in very dim light. I was just tinkering with the settings, and my daughter was making funny faces for me to photograph. I was paying too much attention to the camera and not enough to her, and so she quit posing for me and just put her chin on her hands. It was pure luck, but I rasied the camera and snapped this picture at that instant. Link to comment

carl_oberg 0 Posted April 10, 2007 What a fantastic shot. In minimal light, you've found a great balance of light and shade - with the bonus of a one-in-a-million pose. This image tells a story and encourages me to keep trying....thanks for posting this treasure. Link to comment

timeless expressions 0 Posted April 10, 2007 I think the lighting of this goes perfectly with her "mood" at the moment! What a sweetie. Link to comment
beepy 0 Posted April 10, 2007 Nice capture. Even with adult (models) capturing the moments between the planned often yield good results. You got the picture - that's the critical part. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted April 10, 2007 Very natural pose with the warm lighting. Sometimes spontaneous shots are the best. Link to comment
amanda_arch 0 Posted April 10, 2007 Looks so heart broken...what a great emotional pull this piece has :D She is so prefectly captured and if you had missed it by a second this moment in time would have been lost... She looks like such a great subject to work with. The lighting is very good in my thoughts for the feelings she is exposing. Not very happy but not sad just pale & dim. I like this one alot, very true to children's actions :D Amanda Give the subject great compliments for me,she did an amazing job pulling me into her thoughts at that moment. Link to comment

tmjacobs 0 Posted April 11, 2007 Great expression, but I have one small point of critique: the expression is all in her left eye, her right eye is very dark and has almost no detail. In fact if you concentrate on that and cover her left eye her expression is even a bit spooky, a bit like a doll's face with a missing eye. I just checked in PS and there's a lot of detail in her right eye, you might consider bringing that back just a bit in PS. But, again, apart from that it's a great photo of a very cute girl. httpwww.photo.netphoto1664881446 0 Posted April 12, 2007 No, Daniel, I don't think that there was any luck involved with this image. Pros spend years getting to be this "lucky". What you have captured here is a rare moment that truly needs to be preserved. Your beautiful daughter is showing her intense desire to please you, and her precious disappointment at being what she must feel is only the second most important thing on her daddy's mind at the moment. You can't plan, or set-up this kind of honesty, all you can do is capture it at the fleeting moment that it comes along. The image is honest, beautiful, and extremely effective at capturing the fragile side of a small child. This little doll doesn't care about global warming, the price of gas, or anything else. Her world is pleasing her daddy and she feels as if she isn't doing that at this precise moment. But, she has given you a very difficult task. How are you going to "top this"? Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Sammy makes a very insightful observation. It is very true. Daniel, this is a superb capture - one full of emotion. I adore it. It is captures like these that one revisits in years to come and the power of it is still 'fresh' - in fact, it's power grows over time. Truly inspiring. M :) Link to comment
