Catching one of the first trains to Basel that day, I had just a few

moments to take this photo. No body there at this early hour.

 

The sculpture at the left, entitled l'Ange Protecteur ("Guardian

Angel") was made by the late Niki de S.Phalle and installed to

celebrate the 150th anniversary of Swiss Railways in 1997.

very personally I have good souvenirs in that station hall, yet the angel wasn't there at that time. though surprising nobody there, was it a sunday? even in Lausanne streets are already alive by that time

Hi, it was a Sunday indeed and rather early.

As you know, the hall of the railway station is crowded with people coming and going. The shops and cafe's are open from about 7 o'clock, if I recall correctly. Ofcourse it is always possible to buy your train ticket, even at 6 AM.
