This is a self portrait I did to show others what I have been

through. I lost 200lbs & this is my scar to prove it. I'm curious

what this photo gives as an impression without the back story.

Without looking at your caption, my first thought is that this is an image of a sexy woman. I don't think you were successful at telling your story with this image. Just glancing at the image, I don't even see your scar from surgery and if I did I might think it was from a C-section. I think you should keep trying with this story........its a great subject. Dig deeper and you'll get it. The good news is that you got a sexy self portrait. Keep shooting! Cheers! And congrats on losing 200 lbs!!!

I would have thought it a panty line on a beautiful woman. By the way did you loose the weight using the whip :>)?

I with Susan keep on shooting you have got a great look and you pose like a top model.

Again the colours are a bit to warm but beside that it s great.

Best regards Tore

I just got a new monitor and it seems all my old photos are too saturated and too contrasty. I have a bit of work ahead of me!

I thank you for the realistic advice and especially the kind words.

What if I were to crop to just the scar area?

Note: The whip does actually have meaning but this isn't really the place to get into it.

I also can see the grey spot from the frame rotation in the upper left! oh my..

I can't see a scar.I can't see past the beauty.Love to hear about the whip sometime.Again,I really don't mind the treatment here. It's no different than what many people produce when they cross process. And yes,my monitor's calibrated.

Congrats from one canuck to another.

Maybe if you simplified the background a little bit it would help. Perhaps different lighting to exaggerate the scar....um like nasty flourescent lighting. I still think you should dig deeper emotionally with this one. I think many people will find similarities in your story. Especially in today's world where beauty and thin are so pounded into young females heads. Maybe Black and white would help and take out some color distractions from the subject...your scar...your story. Cheers! Hope it helps! I really think you should document this and maybe include some "during" shots as well if you have them.

Simplify the background? Sheesh. I already took out another one of my trucks! :P I do like you ideas Susan. I've been toying with a proper series for awhile as I do have many of the images of the process. Though they may need some work as many of the shots are snaps taken by others.

I'll agree with Tore! Totally professional model pose! The only thing missing is the name of the pair of glasses on the upper right with white bold letters!

Great photo!

It's funny you say that. I use this image with MY logo in the top corner for one of my business cards. You wouldn't believe how complimentary that comment is to someone like me. Thank you kindly.
