blackdogstudio 1 Posted March 17, 2007 Have you ever listened to: Nikolai Medtner's elusive Sonata in E Minor 'Night Wind', Op 25/2; Charles-Valentin Alkan's gargantuan Concerto for Solo Piano, Op 39/8,9,10; Ferruccio Busoni's epic Concerto in C major for Pianoforte, Orchestra and Male Chorus, Op 39; Leopold Godowsky's "unplayable" Complete Studies on Chopin's Etudes; Alexander Scriabin's ingenious Piano Sonatas; Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji's unfathomable Opus Clavicembalisticum; Sergi Rachmaninov's brooding Etudes-Tableaux, Op 33 and Op 39? If you've heard these works, then Marc-Andre Hamelin needs no introduction. If you have not heard his name before, then run out immediately and buy Godowsky's Studies On Chopin's Etudes [Hyperion CDA67411/2]. Hamelin is one of the most inspiring classical pianist who is playing today. Regards. Link to comment
