Creates a real sense of space. The muted colours work well for me, including the glacial grey of Lake Wanaka. I love the composition and the clouds showing evidence of strong winds.

Thank you kindly for your comments. The image has grown on me since i first posted it. I was always drawn to what appeared to be a small shrine at the lake edge, perhaps echoing the mountains on the distant shore? thanks again.

Very nice capture Ben. Square format fits just fine here. This small rocky 'island' is indeed a great addition to the whole composition and I love the sky texture

Best regards, Piotr.

Lovely scene. I think it is a very strong composition too, I bounce from element to element through the image without slipping out of the frame.

I have always had a special affinity for that short window when the there is still a touch of evening colour (usually the last glimmer of yellow) but no night colour in the sky but the clouds above have become a ghostly white. I have yet to make an image in that light that I truly like -- its colourlessness seems a hindrance (in colour it looks flat and in B&W you wouldn't know). But, this does succeed in my opinion -- the grey of the clouds is nicely echoed in the silvery waters and the grey stones.
