jeff.grant 0 Posted March 7, 2007 New location, Mike? The vanishing point works very well here. That sky is a real winner and the FG reeds always get me. BTW, what film? Link to comment
oxstudio 0 Posted March 7, 2007 don't know much about the photography.. but i really like this photo of yours Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 7, 2007 Great composition. Even though the reeds and the clouds are the primary components of the image, I really like the soft forms of the shoreline vegetation, further muted by the heavy mist. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted March 7, 2007 I love the acute and sharp foreground grass in contrast to the soft blurred clouds reflection. The lines are very harmonic, well composed landscape with superb light (nice extra the rays of light on the trees RHS). Excellent quality of colors and tones, hats off ! Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Thanks guys. It's Provia 100F Jeff taken at the same old lake with a 3 stop GND. Sky's a bit burnt unfortunately. There's been some good mist lately and sunrise isn't too early at the moment which is nice. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 7, 2007 Mike the melange of colors is doing it for me, nearly monochromatic, with green accentuated FG and an " answer" on the R-BG. I like the accentuated vs. the blur. beautiful sky reflected. The color range is very different from you other works. very nice! Link to comment
andrew ren 0 Posted March 12, 2007 The reeds caught my eye right away. do you take another one with wider lens? Just feel the reeds on this one are a little bit busy though. spread them make more room on the FG will looks better I think. Regards Andrew Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Have taken one before with a wider lens Andrew but the problem is that there is a headland around to the L which gets included and I didn't want it there for this shot. The curvey outline of the reeds being mirrored by the distant treeline curve was one of the important compositional things I wanted hence the slightly longer lens. Thanks. Link to comment
richard van hoesel 0 Posted March 13, 2007 The reeds are the main attraction for me too, Mike, although the palette indeed also adds. I think the composition works just fine as is, and warrants a return visit to address the blown out sky. If anything, I think I would be inclined to explore tighter rather than wider compositions for comparison. Link to comment
clayton_berg 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Same good exposure, same great details and colours. More great work from you like always. Link to comment
richard thompson www.fotoz 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Looks like we have similar taste in Photos ! Thanks for your recent comment on my Patagonian Lake shot. I love the angular reeds - what great foreground. lots and lots of angles and no curves. Then to complement the angles, an angelic sky formed from nothing but curves. You have the horizon (and reflection), and to cap it all off, the mist. Perfect ! Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted January 25, 2009 So beautiful. The calm feeling of the lake and mist juxpositioned with the sharp angular reeds and reflections is really interesting and eyecatching. Link to comment
