tony_quinlan1 0 Posted March 2, 2007 I didnt realise at the time, but, on close inspection, for the romantics out there, their necks and heads form a heart, and so does their reflections and bodies ... hence the title Two Hearts. I just let the camera shoot on continuous frame as they did a u-turn round each other ... :) The only manipulation to these photos is a darkened contrast background to hide the reeds. All comments are greatfully appreciated so i can learn from my mistakes ... thank you. Link to comment
vancouverphotographer 1 Posted March 2, 2007 Wonderful shot - love the contrast of the birds with their environment. Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted March 3, 2007 One of these days I would like to learn how to do this. This is very beautiful and I give you my great respect. I would give it 7's if I had them but alas, I am spent. I too made a heart of bird necks at Valentine time. But not so beautiful as this! Link to comment
tony_quinlan1 0 Posted March 3, 2007 Thank you everyone for your comments :) Jan, this is how they both were as they swam around each other, so its all real, even the reflections. I had a look at yours and is sensational, so soft, well done :) Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I like both shots you have posted very much, but this would be my fav if I had to chose. Just because of their pose and relation, kind of "decisive moment" ;-) I like your background burning, everything is ok (first I thought about a side crop but then you lose the diagonals of their head/ pecker through the corners.) Excellent photo ! Link to comment
stephliv 0 Posted March 4, 2007 How did you get the low key effect? Is it a night short? Beautiful composition and nice reflexion. Link to comment
tony_quinlan1 0 Posted March 6, 2007 Thank you Carsten and Stephane. Stephane ... the picture was shot in very low morning light, around 6.30am. It was a troublesome shot as all i had was a 135 F5.6 lens. The darkend foreground/background was done in PS but its pretty close to the original shot. Link to comment
leannasreflections 0 Posted March 21, 2007 Terrific image. Love how the birds are posed and the reflections. Awesome job. Leanna:O) Link to comment

tanyatruong 0 Posted April 7, 2007 Tony! This shot should be hang on the wall. The hearts, the eyes, the clear feather and the composition all together make a fatanstic shot. Congrad, Tanya. Link to comment
donna pagakis 0 Posted January 31, 2008 Excellent portrait of these beautiful pelicans. Nice light and great timing! Link to comment
myphotocreation 0 Posted January 31, 2008 I must say you have a very nice portfolio but this photograph really stood out to me, wonderfully done, one to be extremely proud of. Thank you for your comment on The Journey it's one I'm pretty proud of, I'm actually working on making it a little better because I wasn't happy with using the same butterfly shot 4 times instead I'm going to use 4 different butterfly shots. Anyways love this photo and thank you for sharing. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted February 3, 2008 This and your "Drifting Along" image are just stunning, the colors and detail are superb! They are so beautiful I'm at a lose for words, there's not a thing you could do to make them any better. Sorry about Sam, I totally understand as I've had dogs as companions all my life and they become such a part of my life. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted February 3, 2008 You really got them at a perfect moment. The darkened bg works to concentrat viewer's focus on the pelicans alone without distraction. Beautiful work. Link to comment
