kslonaker 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Not a contest entry as it was cropped more than 20%. No PS. Link to comment
krmhlz 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Terrific pose and a lovely background to set it off. Very pleasing overall color palette. Nicely done, Kim. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 20, 2007 You are getting some great bird images! Is the contest mostly birds, or all kinds of stuff? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 20, 2007 There are five divisions - birds, mammals, insects, reptiles & special classes (sunsets, ranch life, etc.). Within the five divisions are a total of 53 classes (specific species, etc.). For instance, the birds category has 22 classes. You can enter up to 3 photos in each class, so a total of 159 photos. We're concentrating on birds right now because once everything greens up, a lot of the birds will either fly north or can find food in the trees. Right now, they are coming to the food so we get a chance to photograph them. I found out the woodpeckers love my mix of peanut butter and birdseed. If you're interested in checking out the rules and the winning photos from '05, etc., here's a link - Wildlife Photo Contest Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks, I'll check out the '05 winners. I love the birds, but I can hardly wait until you get to the reptile photos :) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 20, 2007 Wow, there are some awesome photos there! I love the gecko one. You're going to be REALLY busy on weekends! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Haven't seen any lizards or even insects yet (other than ants). Probably in another month, things will start heating up and we'll really start seeing the wildlife. We've actually had a "cold" winter down here this year. We have about 100 robins and we don't normally see many. Link to comment

fergi 0 Posted February 25, 2007 Kim, Great work here. It almost looks like a B/W with colors on the head hilighted. It is fantastic work. I like the clarity and the out of focus background. Wonderful. fergi Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 25, 2007 Funny thing, it WAS the offending peanut butter I used! I had a fear that we would go out there and see a bunch of dead birds, but they were all fine. Maybe birds aren't affected by salmonella? About 20 employees where I work had the peanut butter, too - it was distributed locally. Some of them reported vomiting and fever after eating the peanut butter, although they didn't conmect it with that until the news reports! Luckily, I don't like peanut butter and only use it for birdseed mix. Link to comment
