corkman 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Dredged up an old print from 10 years ago when I was a newspaper reporter/photographer. Worth reviving I think because of the story in the caption that read: 4-year old Anne Belton, Stevensville, had seven or eight near misses and several hard spills before she finally ran down the elusive greased pig at the Queen Anne's County Fair. Her gritty performance won her $10 and a roar of appreciation from the more than 500 spectators. Link to comment
jerrymat 5 Posted February 16, 2007 Well done! The look of defiant pride, the bits of dirt on skin and costume - they all help tell the story. One small thing. The bright colored pattern on front of the shirt pulls vision away from the meaningful face. Might cropping make it a stronger picture? Link to comment
corkman 0 Posted February 16, 2007 I struggled with the option of cropping, but wanted to show the hard won dirty shirt. Still, you're probably right. Glad to see someone who appreciates the story behind the photo. She made everyone in the stands proud that day. Link to comment
michelle a. 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Awesome! Since she is probably about 14 years old now.... same as my son..... you have to wonder if she'd appreciate this picture now. Teenagers you know! ;) I do however think it's wonderful given the story behind it! Link to comment
corkman 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Great minds thinking alike! In fact I looked up her parents phone number today and will be calling to offer them a good size print. As you observed, you never know about teens, but I'm guessing her Mother and Father will love it. Link to comment
