Very aesthetic and expressive photo! It well deserves to be a photo of the week. -- DL

There is definitely some commercial reason for people giving 3/3. This is in no way 3/3. Could never be. So your ratings get pulled down and therefore less exposure on best photos. Can only imagine that the people that give 3/3 want to keep their photos near the top and cynically vote other peoples down.

Anyway, on with the photo.

I like it alot and it stood out in the critique forum. Since you asked for criticism i will give it. If anything at all I would suggest a crop or photo taken so that that the jumping wildebeest is more to the left and would balance the picture better. There is a nice curve of the track of the wildebeest and if cropped differently this would bring a good composition to the photo. However I don't suppose it is easy to get the perfect pic when you're photoing wild animals in I presume Africa. I will give it 7 for originality and 6 for aesthetics. Good work, the criticism is there because you asked for it

Great capture. If you check Vadim Onishchenko folio, you will see he posted almost the same shot. Such incredible mood and force of nature!

If I would ever get to a zafari in Africa, I would want to take a similar picture. It is something you are expected to see there.

I have rated originality onely 5 cause I have seen this situation in documentarys, Africa books, NG magazine...

Anyway you have everything right in this, congratulaions. 6 from aesthetics.

Jan Piller, I took this foto in the same time, when I was with Vadim Onishchenko in Kenya (August 2006).

The dust the wildebeests created makes part of it look grainy. Out of curiosity did you have a high ISO on? or like i said just the dust grain showing texture.
