atlatling 4 Posted February 23, 2007 I could use some words of encouragement as I have plans on framing it and giving it as a gift, however it's been on my portfolio for some time and nobody seems to give it a second glance. Is it me? Thanks for comments. Link to comment
tfactory 1 Posted February 23, 2007 Your coposition is very great. The clarity and lighting works very well. Thanks for the comments on my "The Path" shot. I don't have PS but did use some enhancing for the color. g Link to comment
rfadams45 0 Posted February 23, 2007 It's a nice shot but personally, I like more contrast. Maybe it's just me. Link to comment
keeperofthefire 0 Posted April 20, 2007 I take it this is caused by runoff? Nice capture. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted June 29, 2008 I'm quite fond of textures and (natural) patterns. On those grounds, this shot had instant appeal. After taking the initial hook, I noticed that my eyes were steadily wandering out of the image, by following the receding lines towards the right hand side. They also moved upwards, towards that darkest stain in the top right corner. Eventually, I also took note of the vertical line extending upwards from the bottom left corner. After your recent encouragement to rework one of my own images, I took to this one with some enthusiasm. However, I'm not sure if my alternative version is (literally) distorting reality too much.I have reduced the effect of the runaway horizontal lines and thus attempted to capture the viewers eyes within the frame. atlatling 4 Posted June 29, 2008 Thanks Peter. On some renditions of this image I did crop out that dark stain in the upper right corner, but alas, not in the final copies. I probably should have gotten rid of it. As I recall I cropped the right side away rather than the top, but it achieves about the same end as this is an "all over" pattern. That light colored vertical line used to show up on most of the images I tried to display on photo.net, and have no explaination for it. It is not a part of the photograph, but some little computer glitch I was experiencing at the time. Doesn't seem to be a problem now. Actually this is a vertical panorama made up of parts of four photographs with the top one showing sky and trees, and the bottom one showing rock fall and a road, all cropped away. You are absolutely correct. Both of the above items should have been corrected and your version does look better. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted June 29, 2008 I also had a closer look at the funny pattern at the bottom of the frame. In some ways it reminded me of the Photoshop "marching ants". Part of the same computer glitch perhaps? The combination of the vertical and underlying horizontal lines really make for a fantastic natural tapestry. This image is really growing on me; every time that I have another look at it. Link to comment
atlatling 4 Posted June 30, 2008 I hadn't noticed that little square area before, Peter. Funny (strange). And yes, I suspect it is part of the glitch I spoke of . Thanks for the comments... Bill Link to comment
