Terry, I love this shot. Nice expression... suites the title perfectly. He looks like my old boss!!! LOL

The lighting didn't come off like I wanted on this. I meant for the

shadows to go the other way. The light on his left was up too

high. But I liked his reserved look and angle. What are your

thoughts. Looking for some constructive input from anyone with an

opinion. Thanks!

Terry:

This is a great pose and expression on the model.

The only other thing I can add is a problem I am constantly struggling with (hence the lack of portraits in my portfolio!)- your focus needs to be tighter on the eyes. As is, the hair above his lips is in perfect focus while his eyes could be just a bit "crisper"

A great pose, nonetheless and much better than anything I've been able to do to date.

Thanks Angela for your kind comments.

Thanks Tom for your feedback. I agree. I do struggle as well with the sharp focus on the eyes. I really concentrate on getting that. In fact, I cheated a little on this one. I closed the aperture a bit more than I usually do, but I didn't fool you. Good eye.

For some reason this image has a slight blue cast to it. This is a post upload color issue though. The image I uploaded had a much better skin color to it.

Very nice shot Terry. I am a color gal and I have to say the b/w version may have my vote...again I like the color..but his eyes just dance with the light and it shows up beautifully in the b/w.

Great portrait!

James, right on! You've convinced me that I must get an 8x10. Less of his tie is better. I really never intended this to be in B/W. I miss the red in his shirt against the colors of his face (unfortunately, the uploaded version is a little cooler than original). But now that you suggested it, I really like the B/W as much. Great, now I'm going to have to get prints in both because I just can't decide. Seriously though, thanks for the ideas and the help. Greatly appreciated.

Janice, thanks for tipping the scales toward the B/W version. I might get away with having only one print made now. Thanks so much for the kind words, you are very encouraging.

Vrindavan, you don't know half of the mood he had when I took this. Actually he was all dressed up and I just had to get a couple shots. He was a little tired, but still a good sport for his dear old dad. Thanks for your thoughtful comments.

Soon, Roman. The Grand Canyon is a good 8 hour drive from my home. So, it will probably be a while before I get there again. For now though there are some interesting smaller canyons closer to my home. I'll have to see what I can find.
