brendon 0 Posted April 24, 2002 I thought this might be Mem Hall (Is it still called that?). Because of its pattern of repeated architectural features and the tonal contrast between the inside and outside of the columns, this kind of photo has been done many times before. Your version doesn't inspire me, and I'm not sure which of these reasons is why: I don't find anything interesting at the focal point. There is no shadow detail and some hightlights are blown (too much contrast). Maybe it would work better to just be completely abstract--make it black and white, crop out the distant archway, crank up (even more) the contrast in photoshop... Or go back with a model to pose at the end of the hallway for you at a time when the light is softer. (Or use yourself with the camera's timer.) Good luck! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 24, 2002 I like this photo... but there was someone annoying me just a little about it... and it took me a while to figure out what it was.... then it hit me! ITS NOT STRAIGHT! :)the door way/footpath is angled toward the bottom corner, and it kind of throws the image out a little bit.... Make sure you pay particular attention to that next time.... It can be hard I know Otherwise, I like this picture.. looks like it should be in a travel book... very backgroundish (in the sense of giving an idea about a place)... You could possibly put a model in it, but you'd have to work it perfectly... and change a few things, but the location would be great for a model shoot... Nice colours too Link to comment
mircea_strugaru 0 Posted April 27, 2002 If you mean "straight" as in "level with the horizon" then the picture IS STRAIGHT. The base of the door is not parallel with the base of the picture frame because the camera was pointed towards the windows...therefore it's impossible to have the door aligned....but this is really nitpicking! If you want everything straight then render your pictures in AutoCad! :) Link to comment
