I tried to express the unusual clothing with the lighting and pose.

As a photo student, I'm interested in any feedback about any

technical elements (cropping, light, color...)

I like it. The pose is good, and the cropping is good. As a photo, I'd say it works very well as is... As a fashion photo you might want a bit more light on her back - I have my monitor reasonably well calibrated for brightness, and I can't see much detail on her back.

 

I like the shadows from the light on the right, but maybe a smaller light on the left, or a touch of flash bounced off the ceiling might help.

Brad, What do I know, I've never taken a fashion shot in my life? However, since you asked for opinions....... Ask yourself if you were in the market for this item has this photo described it adequately for you. Would you be enticed to seek it out for a closer look-see or turned off by it? I agree it needs more (some?) fill. The depth of field is so great I can see the creases in the background paper.(don't know if that's relevant, just an observation) What was the client's comments or was this personal work? In the end, the person paying the fee is the one you have to satisfy :) Oops, almost missed the part about you being a student. Best, LM.
