These have been rated poorly, and anonymously, if you find them in some way unsavoury,

maybe you could drop me a line, and let me know what I could do to make them just a little

bit 'better' That's why I am here after all! (Oh, and yes, to win that darned toaster)!

The toaster is already gone. I like this concept! Great idea. But you can't see the "grouse" - too small and not enough contrasts to distinguish him from the riverbed. A very fine PN member Ken Williams (check out his nice stuff if you haven't already)taught me if "somebody has to ask what it is or look so closely to try to figure it out", it should be back to the drawing board. Maybe a lighter background would help and if the "grouse" is walking to the right, then place him at the left of the frame so it looks like he has someplace to "walk to". I hope this helps and does not offend! And I am sorry the toaster is no longer available.

People seem to look for clean lines, punch, and sharpness in a photo, I do not. This photo lends the feeling of capturing a bigfoot or some other anomile in a state of surprise. Both moving and dark, I can see how it would "bother" a "trained" eye, but then again some of us like being bothered...

Kudo's to you!

Jan, the mask the dancer is wearing is called the Grouse..... hence: 'River Grouse" I wasn't very creative with the title, a bit misleading, I suppose..

What are doing up at 4:11 a.m.! hahaha And why are you responding to my comment 9 months later. We already had discussions about this man way back then and as I recall, you said you might have more shots from this documentary. Perhaps you have forgotten those discussions? Maybe it's the fresh October air. I think I recalled saying I would like to see this in colour too.

Geez... too much time on my hands Jan!!! 2:11 here! I don't know if colour would have worked for me here, as it was very low light, and I was shooting without a meter..... I have had a very marginal success rate with colour so far, so that is defenitely an avenue I should explore....

P.S. I still haven't been back to see these guys, but when I do go back, I will be sure to take some ektachrome, and Velvia with me! Nice to hear from you again Jan, I hope things are well. Harv
