kentb2 0 Posted January 15, 2007 Oh mama! Come on post for ratings so I can smack a couple of 7s on this beauty. This is one remarkable photo. I will go so far as to say it is perhaps the best image I've seen in months. Really Very WEll Done Laurent! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 16, 2007 Yes, a very interesting and well executed photo. Congratulations. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted January 16, 2007 Thank you very much. This picture really is a clin d'oeil to Kent, whose great compositions, colours and PS skills make me green with envy. Kent, I'm one of your biggest fans! Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted January 16, 2007 An original composition Laurent...I like this interruption of direct image and then continuation through the glass...cold metallic tone...well done. Link to comment
pat_s4 0 Posted January 16, 2007 Ok, I may be a simple minded person, but this picture makes NO sense to me. To me it's flat out ugly. NO OFFENSE Link to comment
gym_ 0 Posted January 16, 2007 Yer i would have to agree im not shoure how any one would say this is fantasic,, i personly dont find anything apealing at all about it i sertanly would not have it on my wall as a poster,, Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 16, 2007 Now I know where all those 3's are coming from. Just goes to show you, different strokes for different folks. For me, it's a great conception and shows the eye of the artist. I do have a slight problem with the execution of the bottom part of the picture which seems overly sharpened or something; I'd like to see the wheels and steel piping just a little cleaner. Of course it might just that I've been on the computer for three or four hours now and am slightly bleary-eyed. Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted January 16, 2007 LaurentDue to the restrictions on the mutual ratings issue I am temporarily parking a couple of 6?s until my 14 day quarantine is removed. Thanks for opening this up for rating. Sorry you had to be exposed to the generosity and aesthetic acuity of the free-wielding three givers. Link to comment
Todd Kowalski 2 Posted January 16, 2007 Yeah Laurent, I appreciate the fact that you opened this up for rating, however the "3ers" are always omni present, though I take it that their IQ's most likely run at best, in low two digit numbers, so consequintly there is no threat of good competitive work coming from them. On to this exquisite photo. I love the composition of this with the covering over the top, and the monotone nature, with splashes of red and yellow. I think that this would (and should) be enlarged to almost lifelike size, matted and framed and hanging in some Museum of Modern Art. YOU, could have a solo show my friend! Regards, Todd Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Laurent, thank you very much as always! Glad you liked it. Pat and Chris, thanks for your sincere opinion, I appreciate. Jack, thanks . I see what you mean, the pencil-drawn like lines and charcoal black bother me a little too. I may have boosted contrast a little too much. Zdenko, thanks for stopping by and the nice comment. Kent, my pleasure! thanks again. Todd, thanks for the great frienship and support! Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Just a quote: "Art is not doing something because you believe someone else may like it better than what you would otherwise do. Art, in short, is freedom" (The Luminous-Landscape Essays, by Alain Briot)...I also like what you do for that Laurent...so keep coming with your personality. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Thanks Laurent. Very nice quotation. I'm not gonna change! Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Laurent, I wanted to mention this earlier but this work reminds me a little of Ralph Goings style. I don't know if you're familiar with him but he's a long time hero of mine and is an influencer of my work. He's a painter. http://www.ralphlgoings.com/ Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted January 18, 2007 Kent, I'm not familiar with Ralph Goings but I'm gonna check his website and I'm sure I'm gonna like him. Thanks for enclosing the adress and telling me about one of your favourite artists. Link to comment
paulduss 0 Posted January 27, 2007 I find this really strong. Metallic textures at their very best. Singing geometry. Meticulous imbalance. Furious rythm. Takes a very free eye to see such a scene. Mes compliments. Link to comment
lupine 0 Posted February 27, 2007 Great capture, Laurent! Love the texture on the bottom third of the image. I can almost see that area as a horizontal crop on its own. But I do love the abstract aspect of the top two thirds. I can't quite make out what the material on top is which makes the image even more compelling. It forces me to look. Sorry I've been out of the loop for a bit. I look forward to getting back into the grind. Be well. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Paul and Paul, thank you very much. Good hearing from you. Paul D., I'm sorry I didn't answer your comment before. This is a very nice remark. I've been very much impressed by your portfolio. A tres bientot, Laurent. Paul C., it's always great pleasure reading you. I think the material on top is a sort of plastic screen. I usually have lots of work and I wish I could have more time here on Pnet. I like your work very much. Thank you again. Be well, Laurent. Link to comment
dave holmes 0 Posted March 3, 2007 somehow you made the wheels and legs seem alive. great job. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted March 9, 2007 Thank you very much, Dave. Nice having your visit. Link to comment
panyitu 0 Posted March 20, 2007 As soon as it loaded on my monitor I though woo-ow (not a person of profound thinking you see) this is a extremely good photo with a Kent B. feeling to it. Next thing I see is his comment to corroborate that at least he likes it a lot.Congratulations for it. Link to comment
