david newsom 0 Posted January 12, 2007 Black and white, tonal experiment, converted color. Thoughts? Link to comment
younes 0 Posted January 12, 2007 Very interesting! It's only a bit too dark in the foreground. It looks a lot like IR photography. would you mind sharing how you achieved this? Cheers., Younes Link to comment
david newsom 0 Posted January 12, 2007 I've experimented w lightening the foreground and didn't like it, but I'll re-visit it. I shot on Fujichrome Velvia (50 asa) and scanned using Nikon 4000 scanner. Converted to Black and white and used a red filter for contrast. I selected the surrounding snow and used a mask when setting overall contrast so I could bring out the subtle variations in light later. Thanks again. David Link to comment
david newsom 0 Posted January 12, 2007 The radiant quality of the trees is from hoarfrost, which had settled on everything overnight, due to a fast drop in temperature. It was about 40 degrees fairenheight when I went to bed, and 10 below @ 6 am. The existing humidity froze on everything and created this amzing luminous situation for about 2 hrs, then it all melted off. Thanks again, David Link to comment
sven keil 0 Posted January 12, 2007 Great lighting and contrast!! Is it a winter scene or infrared? Link to comment
williammccarey 0 Posted January 12, 2007 Great image, excellent post-processing. The dark foreground nicely sets off the radiance from the trees. Excellent! 6/6 anon Link to comment
david newsom 0 Posted January 13, 2007 Just a winter scene & heavy frost, as stated above. Thanks.. David Link to comment
tomlohrman 0 Posted January 13, 2007 The lumination behind the trees is great and the way it continues to the foreground of the shot, velia 50 is great stuff, I still have a few rolls stowed away. Link to comment
johne37179 29 Posted January 13, 2007 I would have given this image a 7/7, but PN prevented that! So you can add ones to my ratings! Link to comment
