aepelbacher 0 Posted January 3, 2007 This image is to follow-up, or rather to wrap up a series (see the previous 7 images). I just want to give you an idea of what Old Town Alexandria is like... I spent some time in Old Town Alexandria the other afternoon. A few days before that I had noticed that many of the historical homes in this area (some even date back to the Revolutionary War era) had beautifully decorated doors and windows for the holidays. Not with lots of bright lights ... but mostly with pretty wreaths and greenery around the windows and railings. I'll post a few of the shots over the next few days. They're very difficult to "straighten" out because the houses are not straight, the streets are built on hills (going down toward the Potomac River) and the sidewalks and front door steps are usually crooked. BUT, since many of the doors are modern, they are level. So I tried to use the doors to help get the right perspective on the rest of each image. Please be sure to look at this image "larger" to see some of the wonderful detail in the decorations and the older architecture. Happy New Year everyone! Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted January 4, 2007 this is my favorite of your doors series. i like the rythm of the repeating doors and windows. i have about 2-3 weeks of serious deadlines & then hope to be able to spend more time visiting my PN friends. are you back in school now? my girls started today. happy new year! colin carron 58,916 Posted January 6, 2007 Interesting to see the terrace of houses. The formal appriach works well when you have a lot of repeated identical things as you have here. Link to comment
