mark_duke 0 Posted April 4, 2002 Can anyone explain the sepia colour cast of this image, and how it can be reproduced.. This was developed c41 on standard kodak colour paper.. Thanks Link to comment
carl smith 0 Posted April 4, 2002 The film has an orange tinted base, part of the C41 color developing system and the design of the film. It's not abnormal. Also, scanning in B&W mode works fine with this film. Link to comment
rick vincent 1 Posted April 4, 2002 I like the out of focus. Often these out-of-focus style pix drive me nuts. This one actually looks planned out-of-focus. So many others look like accidental out of focus and they just don't look right. This is a good example of one that is done well. Link to comment
mark_duke 0 Posted April 4, 2002 Forgive me if I'm wrong, but Xp2 is on a purple negative? Isnt the kodak version on orange? Link to comment
nathan_ferry 0 Posted August 8, 2002 I think that with chromagenic film you pretty much take what you get as far as color tone is concerned. You would probably be lucky to even get this same tone from the same lab if you brought it back to them because there are so many variables in color printing. I think if you want to make something reproducible you could either print digitally (see the photo.net tutorial on sepia toning; it could easily be adapted with different colors to get the tone of your choice) or print in a B&W darkroom, where toning is really in its glory (the photo looks to me exactly like a fiber-based print in PolyToner).
