kolaczan 0 Posted December 11, 2006 Wonderful shot Max. Not just the right place at the right time but a bit of compositional luck too. Good on ya for getting out there and getting this one. Michael, I suppose this shot was faked by multiple photographers...? http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=5314585 Link to comment
zyriab 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Buenas. Un saludo Link to comment
gdvauclair 0 Posted January 27, 2007 really a fantastic picture... must have been tense to be standing and witness nature's fury at work. I am amazed at the sharpness of the picture... great work . bravo ... Link to comment
JatinderKeith 0 Posted August 31, 2007 This picture has all the ingredients for making a great photograph. Fine details of the sober waves in the foreground, a beautifully lighted, massive furious wave surrounding a solidly standing lighthouse in a vertical balance, the rocks maintaining the horizontal balance and providing contrast to the main subject, BW accentuating the mood and impact, make it an excellent picture. It is a treat for the eye and awe for the mind. Link to comment

dave_nitsche 0 Posted February 25, 2008 This lighthouse does exist. There are plenty of images on the net that show it. While none have such a graphic example of waves, it's obvious that severe weather there could make this shot very, very possible. Here's one example... http://www.wunderground.com/data/wximagenew/l/lunada/2497.jpg Might just be a bunch of dodging and burning going on here to cause some of the light anomalies you see. It's safe to say the lighthouse is as shot. Whether there was some wave manip, well, maybe but considering what else is being done these days this is timid by many standards... I really like this image. It has real impact. Link to comment
erikadams 0 Posted February 25, 2008 I think there probably was some dodging around the lighthouse, to provide a brighter background and bring out the lighthouse more. I really like this in B&W. The texture of the rocks and foreground water provide a nice balance to the powerful wave above the lighthouse. It might benefit from a little more careful PS work, but perhaps the lighthouse can be brought out better with work in the channel mixer, rather than dodging. Link to comment
phineas_tarbolde1 0 Posted February 26, 2008 This is a spectacular picture. Beautiful, dramatic, and a document of the awesome power of nature. Nice to see a picture that captures a rare moment, rather than a highly staged, highly photoshopped, wide angle "look at the foreground" cliche. Link to comment
