Dusk at Ardnamurchan

davidclapp

Ardnamurchan lighthouse in huge swells, the waves were hitting the large section of rocks and hurling huge sprays into the air that I sheltered from by wedging into a crack in the rocks. EOS 5D, 70-200.

Great place and a great image David. Very nice post-processing and those mountains (island) in the bacground add some great interest into the picture. Congrats

I know this part of the world and think you have captured the atmosphere very well indeed. It can be a wild and lonely place and this comes across so well in your image which is well composed. The lighting is so appropriate too. Nice one!

Fantastic image David, I love the mood this conveys. Well done.

Oddly, I couldn't rate this a 7/7 because you rated my image a 7/7. The system said I could not reciprocate for 14 days or something, seems kind of silly, they won't allow me a member and contributing artist to rate this, but the 3/3 botters can just rate away all they want. Oh well, incredible image, and 7/7 all the way :)

Thanks to all of you who have voted or commented, means a lot. The thing that worried me about posting a picture like this is that many people think it is just a photoshop mock up. The fact is all the detail you see in the picture is from the original. Its a four second exposure so there is some but not a lot of detail in the waves. It is this type of light and shutter speed that creates a dramatic oil painting effect that I personally think does the coast great justice. Many will dismiss this as CS2 doing the work, but the only adjustments made were contrast and colour intensity. Thanks for your support and words. Please take a look at my portfolio, it is growing day by day.

David, there isn't a one in this portfolio that I wouldn't hang in my home. You have taken the ordinary and brought a vision of the extraordinary. i.e.Your work seems to straddle the worlds of reality and dreams. And I venture that many of us have better dream than real worlds to visit. Thanks for posting; they are inspiring.
