Very atmospheric image.

Very well composed to allow the eye to wander across the ridges and valleys into the misted distance. Great depth and detail. A really pleasing image.

I am humbled by the positive response to the photo. I know what I like to photograph but I am still trying to determine what other people like and Photonet members are helping me with that.

 

I will try and get to visit the site of those who have left ratings and comments.

 

 

I live here in Alaska and spend as much time on our boat in Prince William Sound in the summer and have a similar shot in my portfolio. Don't you just love the way the mist moves in and out and around the Mts. and hills? I can sit in our boat while it is raining and just watch the fog for hours. I don't think any photograph can catch the rich feeling of being there watching the fog flow. But you have done a nice job. Merry Xmass from Alaska!

A Merry Xmas to you also and thanks for all of the comments. I spent two weeks this year (Sep) in Alaska and was blessed by the weather and blown away by the scenery. Yes, I do have weakness for the rolling fog and mist and could not get enough of it. I really put my D70 through its paces by shooting over 1600 shots in two weeks. There are many spots I did not see but I will have to save my money and hope for good health in order to be able to 'Do' Alaska again.

Viewed starting bottom left, there's a nice S shaped mist to lead you through the image and the RHS tumbles into it. Nice time of day and interesting without reaching fascinating.
