Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted November 22, 2006 You must have had a sturdy tripod! Nice shot and great light. Link to comment
hombre 0 Posted November 22, 2006 You have a very nice image here but in my opinion it looks like you've played with curves and made this look, well, not so good. Of course I can't be sure if you even used the curves tool in PS but this is how images start to look easily with it. I think you do have an amazing image here but I don't like how it looks now. It's too gray and lacking contrast. Another try with PS and there you go! Good job Hannu! Hyv䠨yv䡠 Link to comment
hannueskelinen 0 Posted November 22, 2006 Thaks 4 honest opinion Jussi. I shoot only Raw so everything what was there in originally is there still if i someday will wakeup from this nightmare of mine. I'm just having some too artsy oversaturation low contrast period going in my life now... i may not get over easily it beacuse i'm having this same serious illness for years now... I just hate high contrast and same time low dynamic range. But with these tools of mine no can do. Waiting full 14 f scale D cameras or much better skills in PS. Or maybe i'm just waiting 4 real inspiration to do more realistic contrast and color scales. Who know's, i don't. To be 100% true, this is just testing with this audience here. Playground for this sector overmanipulated and oversaturated material you can see here regular. Link to comment
hombre 0 Posted November 23, 2006 I think over all your portfolio is very impressive! It's just this image that caught my eye because you had requested qritique for it. It's good that you're doing something different though. Referring to your comment about cameras that would record 14 stops of light, have you heard about such thing? I've been wondering if they will overcome the problem of limited dynamic range in cameras someday. If they will, imagine how much better an "average person's" photos will become! I don't know if it's something to hope for or not :) Link to comment
hannueskelinen 0 Posted November 23, 2006 The best dynamic range in these days is near or plus 12 f stops I think. To achieve that you need pro digital back and lots of high bit resolution. So with raw format and well done HDR technique you will soon end very near that 14 stops and maybe even above it. (I'm speaking narural looking images, not those overdone pukes.) Canon EOS 400D is capable 8,4 f stops dynamics and with raw headroom maybe 1 stop more so with 35 mm format it will be still very challenging for a moment. Human eye can see nearly 15 f stops with adaptation. Link to comment
