Elliot, many thanks for you comment on my 'folio'! Yes, I do like to shoot things/images /scenes that I think will look good photographically ~ which I will freely admit does not always work out enough. I bin about 95% or more of what I shoot and out of the remainder I might hopefully get a decent shot or more after some or careful processing.

Now about this shot here, I think I see or sense something of what attracted you to shoot and exhibit this scene. There are these steps of course, leading into an area with interesting lines, stains and textures, and is that a gun carriage at the top of the frame? I can also almost smell or even possibly hear the sea beyond.

So yes, I can understand you wanting to shoot this scene, with the sense of expectation and sensibility that only sea-air generates. However one must endeavour to maximise and exploit all avenues in obtaining a better than average photograph- some of these being the detail, the angle, the poise, the mood and the light avaiable! This last is the essence of photography. So perhaps, you might want to revisit (and then again) this scene or the locality again, study, search for the best time to maximise and exploit all choices to maximise the possibility of getting a good, good photograph. I think it's necessary to try and take lots of care to turn a snapshot into a photograph. And, it's dash good fun too!

Happy Hunting, and May you find the Good Light in the New Year and beyond. Best wishes ~ Mike.
