Creative composition. Needs tonal work and perhaps a little cropping. Here's my quick take on it, if you'll pardon my monkeying with your image (or perhaps I should say goosing your image.

thank you for the above advice on cropping and saturation. i did try this but was trying to maintain the colouring on its neck. i shall take into consideration the cropping though.
