With your back to the sunset

arthur sevestre

Sometimes it pays to forget shooting the setting sun itself, but turn your back towards it and see what the light does to the most ordinary objects. Normally I would have never ever thought about shooting this building, but the light was so amazing, I couldn't help it.

Sometimes the setting sun can light rather ordinary objects in such a

marvelous way that it makes you hold your breath. This was one such

occasion. I'm convinced that the light is great here, but is the

object interesting at all?

Comments and ratings very welcome!

I like this picture, the sunset light adds something to this building in my opinion. You can see the symmetric shapes very well.

That's a very nice photo, Arthur! Like Heleen said, the composition and framing is very pleasing because of the perfect symmetry of all the different shapes and lines. Just a thought: you mentioned you weren't sure if the subject is interesting enough. I think it is, but did you try shooting it at a wider angle, perhaps from a lower standpoint? You'd lose the alignment of the verticals with the frame, but possibly gain some action. Again, just an idea.

Succes, ook met afstuderen! Jeroen.

A very striking photograph full of gold and colour. Not entirely symetrical but 99 per cent there. Well exposed and well observed.
