Little Boy on The Beach

A couple of things:

 

This appears to be a scan of a matte photo. There's a lot of grain and there are two light colored vertical lines in the sky on the left side of the image.

 

There's a color shift that is very distracting. It's strange because the color shift isn't constant. The sand around the boy is darker than the sand in the rest of the image. There should be a little "pink or yellow" cast in the image, because it appears to be late in the day. In my opinion, it appears there is too much. Either processed incorrectly or white balance improperly set.

 

Some of these things can be "salvaged" in Photoshop.

 

The boy also seems a little out of focus, but that could be because of the scan.

Thank you very much for your comments .. As I said, this picture was taken from a picture I've got on my wall ... and in first place was taken with an 110 instant camera ... 12 years ago ... I always love this picture of my son .. Sincerely, I thing you did an excellent job ... I will take your version of the picture !

Sylvie: Sorry I didn't read the details before writing the critique. You've got a very good photo considering the tools (110 Instant) and age (12 years) and the fact that it's a scan of a print!

I don't know. The retro look and the softness make for me stronger effect than any try to make it look technically "better".
