The Picture I sent to an amature photo competition, by Buchart Gardens

No filters, don't remember the setting the camera was on. The image was cropped and a light standard was cloned out.

This is defenitely one of my better photos. I am still not very

advanced in photography, so all the tips and critique I can get really

helps. Please say how I could have taken a nicer shot of the same thing.

Here's a few tips that might help you out. I hope you don't mind that I edited your photo to show you what I'm talking about.

First...the rule of thirds. In most cases, you don't want to place your subject right in the center of the frame. You'll see that I cropped the image to place the boat off to one side. Also, in most cases you don't want the horizon in the center of the frame. But, in this case I left it in the center, the boat pulls your eye away from the horizon.

Second...I pushed the SATURATION just a bit. This brings out the color and deepens the blacks.

Thirdly...I sharpened the image just a bit. This adds detail to the boat and takes away the fuzzy edges.

I hope that this is of some help. If you have any questions about what I've said here or about anything else, feel free to contact me.
