phil morgan 0 Posted September 23, 2006 Another from my first foray into bird shooting yesterday. This was horrendously noisy due to the high Iso used at that time of day. I have done what I can to make it usable, as I dont think these opportunities come along every day!!! All critique welcome. Phil. Link to comment
chris hayes 0 Posted September 23, 2006 Phil.., If this image was very noisy you did a great job of cleaning it up. As for the image itself, fantastic. the colors on the bird are great and the snack is perfect. Extremely well seen and captured. Thanks for sharing, Chris Link to comment

will king 0 Posted September 24, 2006 Phil, you just can't be contained, can you. Wide to zoom, it's all in your arsenal. Awesome shot my friend. Link to comment
yongbo 0 Posted September 24, 2006 Hi Phil, nice capture. I can see the noise problem. Fill flash with flash extender will help. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted September 24, 2006 Fantastic job Phil especially considering your usual focal length. Noise does not seem to be much of a problem that I can see. Sharp where it is important to be sharp. The image and colours do not leap out quite the way it does with the work of the top specialists in this field but I guess you didn't lose your sanity hiding in the bushes for a week to get the shot either. Anyway I'm very impressed. Link to comment
phil morgan 0 Posted September 24, 2006 Thanks Glenn, Will and Yongbo for the comments, they are much appreciated. Kah yes from 10mm to 500mm a bit of a jump! This was taken at about 7.30 Am at iso 400 at about 1/30 of a second. I got rid of the worst of the noise with neat image, a great program if you haven't tried it. The colours were deliberately left subdued (natural) on the advice of people with more experience with birds than myself, although I will probably inflict my saturation fetish on one at some time or other! I believe the pros get the wow factor from off camera strobes/flashes etc? Didn't spend a week in the bush, but spent about 5 hours that day under a camo net on a muddy river bank. Got probably 3 minutes of photography in that time!! This stuff is way harder than landscape. Not sure when I will do any more, as the lens was borrowed from a friend, and I cant afford one myself at present. :0( Keep up the great work. Regards, Phil. Link to comment
