I was using my strobe with an umbrella and had everything pre-checked

before I hit the shutter. What could I do to eliminate that shadow by

the elbow (in camera)? 45 Deg at approx 8.5 ft above them. 300WS at

1/2 power - D70s with radio trigger

Lucius, Beautiful presentation even with the shadows. Moving the subjects further from the backdrop and/or lighting the backdrop with an additional strobe should eliminate the shadows from the elbows and head. A reflector or fill flash on your subjects faces may soften the hard shadows produced by the single source light you used.
