Hello Laszlo, this is a great image. It reminds me of a scene from the Alfred Hitchcock film Foreign Correspondent, where there is a sea of umbrellas.

Best wishes. Peter

Laszlo, this is excellent, the umbrellas well represent living entities with the one individual "Somehow Different", great idea. Bob Dennis

This is excellent!!! How on earth did you manage to get this? It would be great if you could saturate the colours a little to make them stand out more. Otherwise it FAB!

Thank you for looking and taking the time to comment. I didn't want to saturate, first because I am a bit conservative and believe: someteimes less is more, and I thought in contrast with the uniformed umbrellas even a littlebit subdued colors can strongly stand out. That was the point for me in this experiment. I might be wrong. Just in case-for comparison- here is the more saturated version. Cheers; Laszlo

Intriguing image, to say the least. Lighting and composition are superb. "Simply" a very unique and interesting photograph. Top marks.

I like, but I have a doubt: the black umbrellas are identical. Is prepared the photo? I mean: summoned a concentration of fanatics (of a model of black umbrellas) to take the photo? I say it because it seems a good digital illustration of comic before a photo.

hi laszlo, great image.... i like this one much more than the one without the coloured umbrella... becouse this is more illustrative of the concept of one being different from the others.... technically i would only add that colors on the umbrella doesnt' seem too saturated, but i would have preferred the umbrella standing a bit more over the crowd. Plus i have a curiosity... how did you manage to find such amount of umbrellas? and how did you manage to illuminate them all alltogether?

Thank you Giuseppe, I didn't want the colored umbrella to physically stand out. I believe when someone is different it is not a good idea to make show off of it, if you know what I mean.... This is all about a delicate balance. To show difference but not to make too big fuss about it. The attention is more on the crowd of those who are dare to be different. /The title is a bit of a reference to my other umbrella image as well./ Keep shooting, Laszlo

I got your point, plus, now i understand why the coloured one is so at right: for the same reason... i though it was too much on right, but my eyes still found the odd placement appealing: they started to scan the image from the right (colour) tried to go on left and then fallback to the color umbrella... after all keeping low profile doesn't make you vanish.

Giuseppe, this picture is a good illustration of what I constantly try to do in my photography; which is to be a little-bit odd. There are so many conventions in life and art, I just cant help to "stretch" them. It will please you when I tell how did I learn to be like this. I lived in Italy for a year and discovered something essential about Italy and Italian art: it is always beautifully designed but newer perfectly executed. Looking the architecture of your country is the best example. There is always some imperfection in the realization. That makes Italian art so human! because we humans are beautifully designed too, but never perfect at all. Cheers; Laszlo

Even without the interest of the 'somehow different' umbrella, I'm sure this would be a strong shot, the composition and the graphic designs of the umbrellas are so strong anyway. They look almost concrete too me. What was the occassion for this set up?

Not sure is someone has mentioned this but I recently saw this same shot on a commercial. Is this where you got the idea? A great image whether you thought of it yourself or got the idea somewhere else. 7/7
