This shot was taken amidst a whole tangle of dried grape vines. It was

a challenge composing this shot. the slightest movement by the tripod

or me would send waves of tremors though the vines and move the

subject. While I was happy with the composition The dof was not ideal

- some areas of the tendrils are out of focus. I also felt later that

I could have cut the exposure a little. What do you think?

I think you've hit it on the head. I love the simplicity of the composition, focusing on the natural growth pattern of the tendril. And, I like the selective focus, throwing the background entirely out of focus. But you're right! A little more depth of field that would have brought the entire tendril into sharp focus would have been ideal.... looks to me like this is a shot you can redo in principle, even though the tendril would be different. Nice seeing!!

Very nice composition Deepak! I, too, like the simplicity, and agree that slightly less exposure and slightly more dof might provide a slight improvement. However the photo works very well just as it is. It took a very good eye to spot this composition among all the vines. Good job!

I admire the beatiful simplicity of this image. I don't agree with adding more Dof as there are some bright branches in the lower-right in the background that would compete for attention if they were sharper. They already distract from the tendril but just very sightly. Exposurewise it's a bit over but I wonder if what you needed was a more overcasted day so you wouldn't loose detail.

Framing is perfect and I find very interesting the way the lines lead you from one side to the other like a roller coaster.

Deepak,

I too like the simplicity. What really strikes me is the color. Magenta/purple which really makes me think GRAPES! And the subtle colors of the backgroung add to that. SO I would wonder how an extra stop or two would alter that color! Half of one, six dozen of the other, no?

Nice job!

Hello Deepak...a beautiful, whimsical photograph from a readily available source. The critique by Gerard (M.M.) is right on and says it all!
