I wonder how you manage to have this perspective from highness ... here colors rule, in others geometrism is amazing. Very original works ... and very well done. Congrats.

This photograph, and the others I have posted on Photo.net, are taken from kite-lofted cameras. A kite, unseen in the image, supports a small, radio-controlled cradle that holds a Canon SLR. I can position the camera by walking around and/or letting out or retrieving kiteline. I aim the camera and fire its shuttler using the radio while I stay at the ground end of the kiteline. The camera can rotate through the compass, tilt from horizon to nadir, and change from portrait to landscape format.

As a matter of (questionable) pride all of the images are presented full frame. I compose my images by watching the camera and imagining what it would see. The whole process entertains me to no end.

Cris, this is simply wonderful. Thankyou so much for the kite explanation. I've been intrigued with kite photography for a while now and will be checking out the website. Absolutely gorgeous photo!!! You're a good judge of lighting and certainly a master of keeping the kite out of the water. Congrats!

I think these kite images are excellent compositions in their own right, the arial viewpoint helps to give an unusual perspective but it's really as abstract images that they succeed. Well done.

I really like the angle of your photos. Flippin' amazing what can be done with remote electronics and a little imagination.

The colors are pretty much true to the negative. I ran an equalization but opted for minimal adjustment, ran an unsharp mask after reducing the scan. That's all -- no hue shifts or saturation adjustments.

This photogaph violates my "forget about photography and go do something else during midday" rule. I am usually out looking for the shadows and color saturation one finds at the edge of the day. It is a delight to have found this exception.

The ocean is perhaps my all-time favorite place to hang out and photograph. This photo is a sheer delight. Well done in all aspects and the colors are great. Congrats Cris.

The kite bit is fabulous - for some reason I feel far safer putting my own body at risk (say, kiteboarding) than I would putting my SLR up there!

Beyond believe. Now you have added another idea to my never ending wish-list of things I would like to do with my photography.
