rinske koster 0 Posted July 26, 2006 Took this picture last week, really liked the contrast between the old and the modern building. Just curious how you would rate this picture. All comments are welcome... Link to comment

doug bowles 0 Posted July 26, 2006 This photo really caught my eye, and it had nothing to do with the new buildings. I loved the way my eye followed the columns down the right side and swept over to the other side of the photo. A very unusual and original combination of linear and radial compositions. justpete 0 Posted July 26, 2006 The old framing the newer and then the newest, complete with window washing crew, how cool is that? What an extraordinary contrast between what is essentially a temple, architecturally, and what are, essentially, simple places of business. The eye sights straight down the bottom step, at street level, and is unavoidably carried straight up by perceived perspective, the force of which, echoed by the columns to the right, is ended abruptly by the squared off top of the modern building, where, pulled to the right, drawn to the temple entablature, after a brief rest, it's accelerated down by the weight of the columns to its starting point by the urgency of the view's perspective of the steps. The tonal balance seems to enhance the effect, giving a progressive sense of change as the eye is drawn through the frame. And another thing to note is the composition satisfies in that it keeps the eye within the frame without resort to artifice. How it all fits like a jigsaw puzzle! Link to comment

musubi1000 0 Posted July 28, 2006 This is a great photo in many ways. Beautiful assymetrical balance, contrast both tonally and architechtually, rythym, framing, lines, diagonal, depth, pattern, and since I know they don't make a tilt shift lens for this camera good correction of the convergence. Very nice shot!!! Link to comment
