alex_kew 0 Posted January 16, 2007 MiG-29 OVT with thrust-vectoring engines, stopping in mid air with a manoeuvre called "the cobra" (note the smoke from the wingtips showing little forward motion). Taken at RIAT 06, RAF Fairford. Comments welcome. Link to comment
rich_dibuo 0 Posted January 16, 2007 NICE pic... Hard to capture what those jets can really do up there in the air.. This picture does the maneuver no justice... Great picture though... Link to comment
gnashings 5 Posted January 17, 2007 I don't know if I agree. I mean, granted - I may be partial since Alex has been allowing me to fix my Spit dependancy on so many occasions (with partners in crime, you know who you are!). I don't want to come across as biased, but I think this shot does an amazing job of conveying as much of this manouver as a STILL shot possibly can. It makes a great use of the contrails, and even the framing is such that it conveys very well the very specific angle of attack (if you can still call it that in this configuration!) that an aircraft travels in this very unique manouver. Overall, I think this is a great shot for the above reasons. Link to comment
billysyk 0 Posted January 20, 2007 when I saw this from the thumbnail I thought Mig29 or Su27. I dont remember any other fighter doing that so when I saw that I understood what this was all about :-) Great photo! Link to comment
dangoldman 0 Posted January 21, 2007 awesome! and it really does convey the slow movement of the plane. Link to comment
