pnital 36 Posted July 18, 2006 Hi Len, what kind of a disk is it? looks industrial?, anyway, I find its shape interesting. I like the way you have cropped it, sort of gradual from L to R hs. The rusty appearance, color and texture, the roundness vs. the bottom triangles, all these ellements are making it an interestimg composition. I wonder are the colors PSed, or genuine? In any event I like them. Greetings, Pnina Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 18, 2006 Pnina, Thanks for your thoughts. I'm a city boy so perhaps a real farmer could help us out on this one. It's my understanding that these disks were pulled behind a tractor after the field has been plowed to further break up the soil in readiness for planting. This one hasn't been used for a while:-) During the scanning of this shot I clicked on the 'Auto Color Correction' button and that action bumped the colours up to the level you see here (about 25%) The amount of colour in this rusty old farm implement amazes me though it wasn't the colours that attracted me, rather, the shapes. So much gets past me at the time of exposure that I'm frequently quite surprised, as with this one, at the final result. In PS, I usually crop, resize, adjust colours, then sharpen & finally, remove dust spots. Best, LM. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 23, 2006 Len, not much to critique here. The colours are great and the repeating pattern works well. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 24, 2006 Jeff, As I said, the colours were a surprise to me as it was the repeating shapes that caught my attention. Thanks for happening by. Best, LM. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 2, 2006 This is a good one for the desktop computer wallpaper: perfect repetitive patterns. Well seen! Link to comment

Saadsalem 74 Posted June 15, 2011 great, the rust have added an age,the repetition contributed to its power, the two lower plates breaks the symmetry, What else one could ask of an abstract!!!!!. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted June 16, 2011 Many thanks for your interest in my shots and for your thoughtful comments. You know, until today I didn't realize I had posted two versions of these disks. I don't usually do that, editing instead to reveal the most interesting one. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 9, 2014 If you really want to have some fun with this one invert it. To me the colours now resemble something one would see through a telescope pointed at the night sky. (might have to stretch your imagination a bit) :-) Thanks for your participation. Best, LM. Link to comment
