stalinrameshphotographer 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Intersing Shot but could have little saturated. Good Work. 5/5 Stalin Link to comment
nigel d 0 Posted July 12, 2006 The subject matter doesn't seem to be anything special, nor the composition and lighting, and yet the photo is quite appealing. I am not sure why. Link to comment
david shelby 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Beautiful animals, I also think the color tone is a little flat but that is only a nick_pick. Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted July 12, 2006 Stalin, Nigel and David for stopping by. I agree the overall color is a bit dull which is caused by the cloudy weather and overcasting light. It's always cloudy at Point Reyes. David, that is a great 'Antlers' shot. Here is my personal favorite from my own 'Elk' collection. http://gallery.photo.net/photo/3714878-lg.jpg Link to comment
bryan olesen 0 Posted July 12, 2006 If this was mine, it would be special to me. Nice comp - especially with the lone antlers in the middle. I did try bringing out the shadows with the "shadow/details" in CS2. May help a little... Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted July 13, 2006 Jerry,I like this composition very much. Nigel D has made a pertinent comment. What is special about it? Two Elk bulls on the left are looking at the camera, two Elks on the right have turned their side(back) to the photographer. The Elk in the middle is out of view and only antlers can be seen. Thus you have achieved someting special by a balanced composition:-) Link to comment
nigel d 0 Posted July 13, 2006 I disagree that the picture needs increased saturation. In fact, I think the subdued colors add to the appeal; perhaps because of the frequency of over-saturated photos presented on photo.net. In reviewing the other comments, I think that perhaps it is the balance of the subjects that creates the appeal. However, I don't think it is that alone. There is something about the photo that I can't identify that creates the appeal. Perhaps it is the combination of balance and the subtle colors along with other elements I am failing to identify.
