There is something about the composition and manner of the subjects that says more than it obvious.

"Camera-wise" it's an obvious Leica shot. It's funny that they are so recognizable. I commend you on this photo! The composition and tonal qualities are wonderful and I agree that it suggests more than you can see from the picture. Great job!

As the father of a daughter I know what he is thinking watching her looking at you. She could do better! Just kidding! Great shot!

Everytime I browse a Leica photographer's site I see comments about "cropping, tightening, tweaking", etc. The sense of what a Leica photograph is, or can be,seems to be lost. If this were my picture I wouldn't lose the scenery on the left or the out of focus island on the right for anything. To me, this picture is a story and everything in it stimulates the viewer's individual understanding of it. Tight composition is good sometimes too, but this is neither a studio portrait nor is it graphic art, it's a photograph out of life.Sometimes more is more.

I had to laugh at Chris' comment -- I thought the same thing when I saw the image -- scrolled down & saw M6/35 and thought, "obviously."

Seriously, though -- I like it. I like it with more room, too. Sometimes tighter is better, but hey, it's Maine, the great outdoors -- let 'em breathe.

BTW -- is that vignetting or did you burn in the corners?

Geez, it doesn't take psychiatrist to read the subtext here. Kind of like giving away the bride, then standing all alone. More is more; don't crop. Nice framing, tonal range. Two Sevens.
