Fantastic capture Cherlyn, beautiful rich colors!

Fascinating landscape in good light Cherlyn. I may have to visit someday. It is a bit difficult to get an appreciation of size without anything of reference in the frame but I'm guessing vast!

However colors are nice, the whole image has nothing to tell. I think it is not one of your those best photos. Best regards.

Beautiful colors, Cherlyn; it reminds me of the Bisti Wilderness near my home, though that area is mostly gray. A small bit of sky and clouds would have given this some scale. Thanks for posting it for us. Regards.

But while I find it interesting, I'm not ready to assign it a 6 or 7 rating. I could be missing something (trust me, it happens... ;-) but I'm just not as strongly affected by the image as others seem to be.

 

Since you posted in the critique forum I'll assume that you wanted some feedback on the photo and share a few thoughts - which you would certainly be justified in ignoring, given the wildly positive reviews by other viewers:

 

The image seems to tilt down from right to left. (Notice the bit of extra striation at the upper left corner?) Perhaps straighten the image a bit? (You wouldn't lose anyting significant at the lower right side by doing this.)

 

Overall, to my eye, the image seems on the dark side. Again, I could well be wrong on this - I'm clearly a lone voice here. However, it might be possible to expand the dynamic range a bit in one or more of several ways. Some fidding with levels and/or curves might be effective. I might try a bit of burning and dodging here and there to create a few highlights.

 

Then again, you can't argue with success. Lots of people are clearly impressed with this photo, and you should be very pleased about this - and perhaps take my thoughts for what they are worth.

 

Congratulations for creating a photo that has achieved such acclaim!

Amazing is the adjective for this landscape. Just as the Mars photographs sometimes appear on the newspapers. But a very beautiful view.

Maybe not clever to give a "reference line" by the frame. A bigger one, different colour?
