This shot is from the Zoo in Greenville, SC. The shot is original

untouched. I hate the cardboard in the shot but couldn't do anything

about it. So I looked at doing a crop of just the mother and baby's

faces but I wanted to leave the baby holding its mothers arm in the

shot. No matter how I look at it there will be some cardboard in the

shot. So do I leave the whole shot like it is or crop and lose some

of the mother Orangutan? Or does the cardboard just ruin the whole

shot? Thanks for any comments. Jeffery

I'm a beginner but I can say my eye was drawn to the baby first.

The cardboard doesn't catch your eye, so doesn't disturb the photo.

To my eye it offered contast to the mothers hand highlighting the detail.

Love the photo.

To me, this is an amazing mother-and-child shot. Look at the hands on the mom- very human-like! Really settles the evolution question for me, but if it's true that humans and apes are merely "descended from a common ancestor", then I would think that was a real ape-looking ancestor. Sorry for the digression, love the picture- light, detail, crop.

Thanks for the comments. I really do liked the photo and just would have preferred that the cardboard was gone but I just couldn't bring myself to cutting out the mothers hand. The nails look like she just left the nail salon. Well again thans for the feedback. Jeffery
