cappoldt 0 Posted May 24, 2006 Marina, aren't most of your animal shots from the Cantabria Public zoo? I think I remember you saying that once, but there are no details listed in the photo on whether it's a captive animal or not. Link to comment
george_andreou 0 Posted May 24, 2006 This is a really stunning shot, the expression is priceless. I'm curious where this was taken and if there has been any Photoshop work. 7/7 Link to comment

BrianB16 7 Posted May 25, 2006 Marina, this is an outstanding capture from any aspect. I would love to know more details about settings of the camera and lighting. You have listed the 100 - 400 but it looks more like a 500mm since the cat is not bothered by you. The contrast and color are also some of the best I've seen. I would love to know more detail. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
marina-cano 0 Posted May 25, 2006 Thanks for your commentaries. This picture was taken with a Canon 100-400mm at 400mm. 1/640s f/5.6 Iso 250. Full frame and in Ps work contrast and sharp. I am very satisfied to know that there is a doubt about the place where this photography is done, because it means that the place where they live is not too small, and with no bars. This is a boreal lynx and this specimen lives in a park: Cabarceno covers an area of more than 750 hectares and is the largest park of its kind in Europe. It is a large open area where animals from all over the world live in semi-liberty. In Spain lives Lynx pardinus (iberian lynx) and it is, unfortunately, a threatened species.Animals are also ranked by their level of vulnerability on a global level, which in essence ranks their extinction risk. They are ranked from Category 1 (critical) to Category 5 (common-low conservation priority). The Iberian Lynx is the ONLY cat listed as Category 1, with less than 1200 animals remaining in the wild. Of that 1200, only 300-350 are believed to be breeding females. (Information from the IUCN Wild Cats Book) If you are interested, here is more information about lynx:http://www.salvalince.com/http://www.wwf.es/especies_lince01.php I hope that my photographs about them be useful to love these beautiful animals. Mark Keefer 4,784 Posted March 12, 2008 Great capture! That pose is perfect. The depth of field is right on. With the back ground out of focus and the sharp contrast there is a 3D feel to this photo almost like looking through a 3D view master. The cat pops right out of the back ground. One of the best wild life photos I have seen. Good work. - Mark Link to comment

mg 0 Posted March 25, 2008 Really a very beautiful picture. It's a very simple picture in terms of composition, but this simplicity serves very well the purpose of portraying the tension of the animal's body. Very effective. Congrats. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 25, 2008 A beautiful photograph of a beautiful animal...showing beauty, power, grace, and intensity. I really like the opposing diagonals formed by the lynx's body and the rock coming up from the lower left. They add power to the shot and let the viewer's eye flow naturally over the image without lessening the effect of the subject. The depth of field is absolutely perfect, in my opinion, as are the clarity and the colors. Someone may come along here and nitpick that the crop may be a bit tight at the lower right, nipping off part of the lynx's toe...but it won't be me. That's a very minor point and in no way does it detract from the impact of this magnificent photograph. Beautiful work. Link to comment
