The fill seems a little too weak. I think you should have set it a stop above the sky.

I was thinking of something like this. Note that Photoshop can't get what I'm aiming at right. The rocks for instance should remain dark, but you get the idea.

This is a great shot - any bride would love it. Pleasing all of us pesky photographers is another matter all together...

 

The dress is exposed perfectly, as is the sky, the darks in the rocks are great also.

 

I would guess what happened here is the TTL metering that turned off your flash was reading the dress, and gave it priority over the skin tones of her face. If you can, have your camera meter on the focus spot, the set your focus point on her face.

 

Also, based on the averaging in the image, I am guessing the camera was on full frame averaging for setting the exposure. Try putting it on 'spot' if you are not doing this already.

 

That might please the photographers, but the bride will never notice it, and will still love it.
